Why is there always a single sock losing their pair? It is possible that it got lost, got a hole, or mysteriously disappeared when you did laundry. Instead of throwing out those lone, mismatched socks, there are still plenty of uses for them in your daily life or turn them into useful DIY crafts which are peculiar like a pair of custom socks.
Firstly, let’s see what you can use them in your daily life.

  1. Keep things that are small and easy to lose like chess pieces in socks. And you will never lose a set. Place your jewelry or accessories into socks when you travel. They would be a perfect cushioning for your values.
  2. Put socks on the feet of your chair or table legs to keep them from scratching the floors and making noise when moving furniture.
  3. When painting, slip a few pairs of larger socks over your shoes. That will prevent you from paint splatter.
  4. Put a sock on your hand as a mitt, dampen it, dust on appliances, tables, framed pictures and anything else that needs cleaning. You can also use it to clean houseplants and hard-to-reach places like between blinds, window rails, and in corners.
  5. An attractive single sock can serve as colorful covers for boring flower pots and vases.
  6. Fill a plastic bag with ice, tie it, and place it inside of a sock to make a softer ice pack. Or just slip a sock over the ice pack to prevent your bare skin from a freezer burn.
And there are some DIY crafts that are too easy to be found in shops or socks factories.
  1. Stuff a sock with filling and sew it closed. Then, you will have a soft easy wrist rest for your computer.
  2. Just cut the top section off a sock and slip right over your mug. It will become a mug cozy to help to keep your coffee or tea warm while keeping your hands from getting burned. Make sure to measure your mug or coffee cup first before choosing a sock.
  3. Choose some mismatched tube socks and cut the toes off them. These instant leg warmers will definitely make a comeback from the 1980’s. If you're making cute baby leg warmers, choose regular sock to make them.
  4. Place a tennis ball or golf ball inside a sock, tie it up, and use this to roll out knots in your back or legs. This is also a good pull toy for your pet dog. If fill the sock with nuts, bolts and other hard or heavy objects, it’ll soon become a weapon when you swing it in danger.
